Details: The camp is located south of 15,000 ft. Kamen volcano, and north of a large federal wildlife preserve. The preserve provides a constant supply of trophy bears. Bear hunts in the fall season are conducted by spot-and-stamping over blueberry patches and dwarf pine thickets to reach pine nuts and salmon streams. During this time of the year, bears are so preoccupied with eating that they often allow hunters to come within 50-100 yards. Hunters should expect to spend 2-3 days away from the base camp overnight in hunting tents or shacks. Rains are common, sometimes keeping hunters inside of cabins for a few days.
